iSkin ProTouch Vibes : Got Me Covered
As a writer, I practically live at my computer. Even though I know I'm not supposed to, I often eat while I type and surf the web. Unfortunately, my do-it-all workspace ends up littered with crumbs--a huge liability my laptop functionality. That all changed when I rolled on the iSkin ProTouch Vibe keyboard protector. The silicone mat fits snugly over each key and prevents dust or tasty morsels from getting into those hard-to-clean crannies. I simply wipe any grime away with a cloth or, if a particle is wedged in there, with a cotton swab, without fearing I'm jamming the dirt even farther into the keyboard. Plus, if I have a messier accident (I'm looking at you, PB&J), I can simply take the whole mat off, wash it in soapy water, and put it back on my MacBook after it dries. It doesn't hurt that the mat looks slick. I chose the hip green polka dot motif, a pattern that friends haven't failed to notice and comment on. The mats also come in purple, red, or blue polka dots, and in solid purple, red, black, and clear. I've also noticed a few covetous--or perhaps merely curious--glances while typing at my neighborhood café. Mac envy always feels good. iSkin also makes products for the iPod Nano, the iTouch, the iPad, the iPhone, and for other hand-held devices, such as the Blackberry. Bottom Line: This silicone mat will enable my eat-and-work habit while keeping my laptop clean. Plus, it quiets the keys, so the click-click of typing is muffled to a barely audible tapping.--C.R.
