Tecnica Hermano Low Trail Shoe : Cruising Right Through Summer
Tecnica's Hermano Low trail shoes have become one of my favorite light hikers of the season, thanks to their feather weight and all-purpose design. From climbing approaches, to photo excursions, to trips to Colorado's breweries, the Hermano Low trail shoes have done it all in style. When I first donned the Hermano shoes, I was impressed. The shoe feels light and nimble, yet supportive and burly. That's partly due to the nylon shank under the foot, which provides stiffness and stability without adding many ounces. The shoe also has a good deal of cushioning thanks to the shock-absorbing EVA mid sole. On the trail, the Hermano is solid. I like its construction a lot; the mesh and leather combination allows the shoe to breathe well and keep my feet dry. I also really like the thick rubber toe and heel guards. They protect my toes from rocks, twigs, and stumps, and they protect the shoe from the inevitable trail scuffs. The Hermano has a nice, multipurpose sole that offers great traction in almost any terrain. It's moderately aggressive, so it works equally well in muddy, dry, and rocky conditions. I think what I liked the most about the Hermano was the Tecnica Rolling System sole, which provides a little bit of a rocker so my foot rolls from front to back without slapping the ground. I found the TRS system seems to take a little of the effort out of running and walking; it's almost like each step glides into the next without me having to do anything. Call it cruise control for the feet. Good stuff. The Tecnica Hermano is available for men, but also makes variety of other shoes with the TRS system in women's sizes, too. Bottom Line: Comfortable, stylish, light hiker and adventure travel shoe. --N.W. (July '10) BUY ONLINE : $90 click to shop at REI Manufacturer's Site: www.tecnicausa.com |
